Chen debuted as the female lead in a popular TV idol drama, Lavender (2001) and launched a successful career with roles in numerous dramas and films with productions not only in Taiwan but also in mainland China. For her stellar performance in the drama series, Story of Time (2008), she was nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Bell Awards.

Other notable dramas are: Painted Skin (2010), Schemes of a Beauty (2010), Love Forward (2012), Happy 300 Days (2013), and Dragon Gate (2013). Chen has a wide-ranging style and can play characters of very different personalities.
